A disturbing murder-suicide case in Florida has left authorities stunned after a father killed his two young daughters and their mother before taking his own life.
According to investigators, 42-year-old Ryan Charles Whiten, who had a history of tension with his estranged ex-partner Melanie Hyer, committed the heinous acts and then took his own life.
The bodies of Whiten, 46-year-old Melanie Hyer, and their daughters, 11-year-old Savannah and 8-year-old Sienna, were discovered after a welfare check at Hyer's home in Doral, Florida.
Investigations revealed that all four victims suffered fatal stab wounds, but authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive.
Court records show that Hyer had finalized her divorce earlier this year, months before the tragedy.
Whiten's former wife described the relationship between Whiten and Hyer as 'toxic' due to a long-running dispute involving the children.
A memorial Mass is expected to be held in honor of Hyer and her daughters.
