Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel will hold off on any future attacks on Iranian offshore gas fields, following a request from US President Donald Trump.
The decision comes amid a heightened risk of conflict in the region, with Iran retaliating against Israel's attack on its South Pars gas field and fuel prices soaring as a result.
Netanyahu said that Israel acted alone in the previous strike, but that he and Trump have been 'coordinated' in their efforts to counter Iran's military capabilities.
The US-Israeli war on Iran has led to the deaths of Iran's top leaders and a significant degradation of the country's military capabilities, according to Netanyahu.
However, Iran remains capable of missile and drone attacks, and has targeted its Gulf Arab neighbours in recent days.
The conflict has put pressure on oil and gas prices, with Brent crude oil surging above $119 a barrel and the European benchmark for natural gas prices doubling in the past month.
