Manhunt Underway in Lansing After Shooting Near Police Department

A shooting was reported in the 2700 block of E. 170th Street in Lansing, Illinois on Thursday, just opposite the local police department.

A shooting was reported in the 2700 block of E. 170th Street in Lansing, Illinois, opposite the local police and fire departments. The suspect is described as a Black man, 5'8" and 160 lbs, wearing a red dew rag, black hoodie, and white surgical mask. He was last seen heading southbound on 170th Street.

The Lansing Police Department has issued a shelter-in-place order and is working with other law enforcement agencies to locate the suspect. There is no information on injuries at this time.

Residents have taken to social media to express their concerns and reactions to the shooting and manhunt, with some urging others to shelter in place and others expressing prayers for the safety of those involved.

The incident is the latest in a series of events in Illinois on Thursday, including a car explosion on the Eisenhower Expressway and a shooting at an Amazon Fulfillment Center in Melrose Park.
