The Morrill Fire in Nebraska has spread to a record 572,082 acres, making it the largest wildfire in the state's history. The blaze is rapidly spreading across rangeland in the Panhandle and Sandhills region, with the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) and Watch Duty mapping providing the latest perimeter data.

According to early indications, the fire may have been sparked by a downed power line during high winds, although officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause.

The fire has primarily impacted Morrill, Garden, Arthur, Keith, and parts of Grant counties, with some areas not crossing the North Platte River.

Evacuation orders in Keith County were lifted Sunday night, while a fatality was reported in Arthur County. The victim was identified as 86-year-old Rose White, a beloved family member known for her love of reading and sending cards to her loved ones.
