James ‘Weston’ Higginbotham, a 20-year-old Auburn university student, went missing in Japan. His parents, Nancy and Keith Higginbotham, are in Japan coordinating with local authorities to find their child.
Weston was on his graduation trip when he went missing and was last confirmed to be in the Kyoto area on May 29. The police have narrowed down the search area to the Yamashina station, where Weston was seen getting off a train.
Nancy Higginbotham, Weston's mother, has expressed hope that her son may have chosen a quiet trail in the area, given his experience as a hiker. Dozens of officers are searching by foot, and helicopters are searching over the hills behind Bishamondo.
Here are five things to know about Nancy and Keith Higginbotham:
Nancy and Keith currently live in Birmingham, Alabama, and have been coordinating with local authorities to find their son.
Nancy works as Chief Operating Officer at Rousso Adams Facial Plastic Surgery Clinic in Mountain Brook, Alabama, and has a B.S degree in Accountancy and Finance from the University of Florida.
Keith is a digital creator and has been raising awareness about childhood brain cancer, a cause close to his heart.
The search efforts continue, with the police planning to reconvene tomorrow to come up with another plan to include watching additional CCTV footage and deploying a smaller team to the forest.
