New York City celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a festive parade, filling Fifth Avenue with music, marching bands, and cheering crowds.
The 2026 Grand Marshal, Robert James McCann, led the parade from Fifth Avenue to 79th Street, passing by St. Patrick's Cathedral.
Over 150,000 participants and two million spectators watched the parade, which was broadcast live on NBC 4 New York and various streaming platforms.
Key streets in Manhattan were closed for the parade, including parts of Fifth Avenue and nearby streets.
The MTA offered special services, including extra trains and shamrock-themed signs, to manage the large crowds.
State and local leaders, including Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams, participated in the parade, along with the New York Police Department and several high school and college marching bands.
