US President Donald Trump has ruled out a ceasefire in the ongoing war with Iran, saying the Strait of Hormuz will 'open itself' at a certain point.

Speaking to reporters, Trump stated that a 'lot of help' was needed to get safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and that it 'would be nice' if countries like China and Japan got involved.

Trump denied the possibility of a ceasefire, saying, 'You don't do a ceasefire when you're obliterating the other side.'

He also called out the UK for not offering help quickly enough and lashed out at NATO members and China for refusing to help unblock the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz has been disrupted by Iranian forces since the start of the war, causing a global surge in energy prices.

Trump was evasive about his plans for Kharg Island, Iran's major oil export hub, saying 'I may have a plan or I may not.'
