US President Donald Trump said he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to repeat attacks on Iranian natural gas infrastructure, following counterattacks from Tehran that sent energy prices soaring.
Speaking in the Oval Office, Trump said he told Netanyahu 'don't do that, and he won't do that', after Israel launched an air strike on South Pars, Iran's part of the world's largest gas field.
Iran responded with aerial assaults on energy infrastructure in Qatar and across the Middle East, prompting Trump to condemn the attacks as 'unjustifiable'.
Trump also said he would 'massively blow up' the South Pars Gas Field if Iran attacked 'innocent' countries, citing Qatar as an example.
Israeli officials confirmed that Netanyahu had spoken to Trump about the attacks, and that Israel would avoid future attacks on Iran's energy assets following Trump's request.
