US President Donald Trump revealed that the US-Israel airstrike in Iran also killed the identified successors of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, leaving the Islamic Republic's future leadership unclear.

The strike, dubbed 'Epic Fury', targeted Khamenei's compound in central Tehran, killing four members of his family, including his daughter and a grandchild, and three American soldiers.

With the prominent candidates eliminated, Iran's constitution dictates that a temporary council will hold the supreme leader's powers, but the future leader remains uncertain.

Ayatollah Alireza Arafi is seen as the interim leader, but his fate is also unclear as he has made no public appearances since the attack.

Reza Pahlavi, son of the deposed Shah, has drawn attention as a potential new ruler, but has received no public support from the Trump administration.
