Joe Kent, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, has announced his resignation due to the conflict in Iran, sparking uproar among President Donald Trump's supporters.

Kent stated in his resignation letter that he cannot support the ongoing war in Iran and that it was a 'trap' that robbed America of precious lives and depleted its wealth.

Trump appointed Kent to his position in February 2025, and he closely associated himself with the President during his unsuccessful congressional campaign in 2022.

Kent alleged that American media, senior Israeli officials, and powerful Israeli lobbyists deployed a misinformation campaign to encourage a war with Iran.

His resignation has brought concerns regarding Tulsi Gabbard's role in the administration as the nation's intelligence chief, as Kent previously held the position of her chief of staff.
