A Virginia woman, Tracy J. Renshaw, has filed a $1.5 million lawsuit against Outback Steakhouse after allegedly slipping on mashed potatoes in the restaurant's Sterling outlet.

According to court filings, Renshaw claims the restaurant failed to maintain safe premises and did not warn customers about a hazardous condition.

Outback Steakhouse has denied the majority of her claims, arguing that it had no duty to warn of conditions that were open and obvious to a customer exercising ordinary care.

Renshaw suffered severe and lasting injuries after the incident, which occurred on May 14, 2023, while she was dining with family members.

She is seeking $1.5 million in damages to compensate her for her alleged injuries, medical expenses, and inability to work.
