Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has formed four high-powered committees to address issues related to infiltration, indigenous rights, and the Inner Line Permit system.
The committees will examine the prevalence of infiltration and immigration in the state, suggest measures for stronger border control, and recommend administrative and legal measures to curb illegal immigration.
One committee will review the existing system of issuance, monitoring, and verification of ILPs and recommend restructuring measures to strengthen the framework.
Another committee will examine the re-verification of ST certificates and related matters, recommending a robust methodology for ST verification and suggesting amendments to existing guidelines.
A fourth committee will study the existing system governing acquisition and protection of tribal rights, identify loopholes that allow misuse, and recommend legal and administrative safeguards.
The committees have been empowered to seek reports and data from departments and district administrations and are required to submit their recommendations within six months.
