Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the state government will transfer ₹2.90 crore in state GST earnings from Zubeen Garg's last film 'Roi Roi Binale' to the 'Kalaguru Foundation' set up by the late singer. The film, which has grossed a record ₹32 crore, is a significant achievement for the Assamese film industry. The state government has also taken steps to ensure justice for Zubeen Garg, who died under mysterious circumstances while attending the North East India Festival in Singapore last year. The trial of the seven accused in the case began last month, and the Assam police have submitted a charge sheet within three months. To expedite the trial, the state government plans to appoint a Special Public Prosecutor by January 12 and will approach the Gauhati High Court to set up a fast-track court for the hearing. The Chief Minister expressed his commitment to delivering justice for Zubeen, stating, 'We want justice to be delivered, and we will make sure that the process is swift and fair.' The state government's actions are a testament to its dedication to upholding justice and supporting the family of the late singer. The transfer of GST earnings to the 'Kalaguru Foundation' will also help to preserve Zubeen's legacy and continue his philanthropic work.
