BJP leader Boora Narsaiah Goud said the Delimitation Bill will allocate seats in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), enabling them to access their right to vote and attend Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

The bill, he claimed, is a step towards India reclaiming PoK, which 'legally, constitutionally, and morally belongs to India.'

On Thursday, the Lok Sabha passed the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, 2026, the Delimitation Bill, 2026, and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 with a majority of 251 AYES out of 333 votes.

The government plans to implement the women's reservation ahead of the 2029 General Elections, but opposition MPs have raised concerns over the constitutional amendment to conduct the delimitation and increase the number of seats in the Lok Sabha to 850.
