The Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary, MA Baby, has attacked Rahul Gandhi for alleging a nexus between the BJP and the Left. Baby claimed that Gandhi's allegations were made during the Kerala election campaign and were part of the Congress's political campaign.

In a letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Baby stated that Gandhi's repeated attacks on the CPI(M) during the election campaign were a "canard" that struck at the very basis of the unity forged against the BJP.

Baby also recalled how the CPI(M) has worked sincerely to see a united platform emerge against the BJP, and that hundreds of their cadres were martyred in Kerala in the fight against the RSS-BJP.

The CPI(M) chief maintained that they will fully cooperate with the INDIA bloc in the fight against the Narendra Modi government.
