The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a petition by RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav challenging the framing of charges against him in the alleged IRCTC scam case. The court's decision comes after Tejashwi's father, former union railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, also filed a similar plea. The trial court had framed charges against the accused, including Lalu, Tejashwi, and 11 others, for alleged irregularities in granting operational contracts of two Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation hotels to a private firm. The charges include cheating, criminal conspiracy, and abuse of position by a public servant. The CBI has been asked to respond to Tejashwi's plea, with the matter set to be heard again on January 14, when Lalu's plea will also be considered. If convicted, the accused face a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison.
