In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police have dismantled an international phone smuggling network, arresting three key suspects and recovering 103 stolen mobile phones. The gang, which targeted pedestrians using stolen vehicles, exploited predictable PINs and patterns to unlock stolen phones, and then sold them online after processing them through intermediaries in Nepal. The syndicate, led by notorious 'bad characters' Kishan and Mohit, had been operating for some time, with Kishan having 21 previous criminal cases and Mohit having 15. The third accused, Rohit, acted as a receiver, supplying stolen devices to a handler who transported them to Nepal, where they were resold. The case came to light when a factory watchman in Ashok Vihar reported a phone snatching incident. Police analyzed CCTV footage and identified Kishan as a suspect, leading to his arrest and the recovery of a country-made pistol, live cartridges, and a stolen mobile phone. Further investigation led to the arrest of Mohit and Rohit, who were linked to the recovery of 103 stolen phones and a stolen motorcycle. Police are now searching for the handler responsible for transporting the devices across the border. The recoveries include 103 smartphones, a country-made pistol, two cartridges, and a stolen motorcycle. The operation is a significant blow to the international phone smuggling network, and police are working to dismantle the entire syndicate.
