Delhi Police has made a significant breakthrough in curbing illegal firearms in the national capital and neighboring Uttar Pradesh. Following a tip-off, a surveillance team was deployed to apprehend Babu alias Aslam, a suspect with a history of crimes, including robbery and murder. The team successfully tracked him down near the North-X drain in Model Town, where a brief chase ensued. Babu was overpowered and found to be carrying two pistols and five live cartridges concealed in his waist pouch. During interrogation, Babu revealed that he had linked up with Santosh, who sourced illegal weapons from Aligarh and supplied them in Delhi. Based on this information, Santosh was apprehended, and a subsequent raid at his property uncovered two sophisticated pistols, three country-made pistols, and 25 live cartridges. Further investigation led to the arrest of Mohd Bilal, who was already in jail for a separate attempt to murder and Arms Act case. On his instance, the police tracked down the supplier, Azeem, in Greater Noida, and a pistol was recovered from him. Police officials stated that the module operated across state borders, with weapons sourced from Aligarh and distributed through a network of carriers in Delhi. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are working to dismantle the entire network.
