A 43-year-old professor at a prominent Delhi University college was found dead at her flat in east Delhi's Vasundhara Enclave, with the police suspecting murder.

The victim had reportedly sent medicines to her mother in the hours leading up to her death and had a promotion interview scheduled for Thursday, but did not turn up, according to a colleague.

The professor was found dead with a severe head injury, both her wrists slit, and bruises on her face and body, according to investigators.

The police said that there were no signs of forced entry in the victim's flat, suggesting that the killer might have been known to her.

The victim's sister reported the murder after she found her locked flat and broke open the door to find her sister dead on the floor.

A case has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and teams have been formed to identify and apprehend the offender.
