The egging incidents involving Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders in West Bengal have taken a turn for the worse, with Kamarhati MLA Madan Mitra's car targeted in a pre-planned attack.

The incident occurred on Saturday night in Ariadaha, North 24 Parganas district, but Mitra clarified that he was not in his car at the time.

Videos of the incident show a crowd of men running towards Mitra's car, throwing eggs and banging the window glass.

The car was then hurriedly driven away, with some men trying to chase it but failing to do so.

Mitra attributed the incident to pre-planned political disruption, while the ruling BJP reacted by saying that the incident was a result of public anger.

BJP MP Raju Bista stated that his party does not believe in violence and that the people of West Bengal are enraged due to the TMC's actions over the past 15 years.

The egging incidents began after the TMC lost the 2026 Bengal assembly election to the BJP over a month ago, with senior TMC leader Saugata Roy being targeted first.

Abhishek Banerjee, Mamata Banerjee's nephew, was also targeted two days later in South 24 Parganas' Sonarpur.
