A shocking case of family betrayal has come to light in Ghaziabad, India, where a retired Indian Air Force officer was allegedly killed by his own sons over a property dispute. Yogesh Kumar, a 58-year-old former IAF assistant warrant officer, was shot dead on December 26 while returning home in the Loni area. According to police, the motive behind the murder was a dispute over the family property. Yogesh had asked his sons, Nitesh and Guddu, to vacate the house, as he planned to sell it. However, this decision triggered a conspiracy, with the sons allegedly hiring two contract killers, Arvind and Naveen Kumar, a Uttar Pradesh Police constable. Arvind, a 32-year-old man from Bulandshahr, was arrested on Wednesday evening and produced before a Ghaziabad court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. During interrogation, Arvind confessed to firing at Yogesh, killing him near his residence. A country-made pistol, live cartridges, and spent shells were recovered from him. Arvind has a criminal history, having been previously convicted as a juvenile in the 2008 Barari massacre case. He had personal disputes with Yogesh, including disagreements in the neighbourhood. The police constable Naveen Kumar and the victim's two sons are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest them. Further investigation is ongoing to examine the full scope of the conspiracy. The case highlights the dark side of family dynamics and the lengths to which people may go to achieve their goals. The police are working to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure that justice is served for the victim and his family.
