In a significant development, Delhi-based entrepreneurs Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, who fled to Thailand after the devastating fire at their Goa nightclub killed 25 people, are expected to return to India on Tuesday. A team from the Goa Police will escort them from the Delhi airport to face charges related to the tragedy. The Luthra brothers, who co-owned the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, were detained in Phuket, Thailand, last week following a request from the Indian government. Their passports have been impounded, and a Blue notice was issued via Interpol. A legal team representing the Luthra brothers has met with them at an immigration detention centre, where they are being held. Before their deportation to India, they will be presented before a Thai court. The Indian Embassy has issued emergency certificates for the brothers. The FIR filed against the Luthra brothers charges them with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, endangering life and personal safety, and negligent conduct with fire or combustible matter. Police are also searching for a seventh suspect, Surinder Kumar Khosla, a British property owner who signed a lease for the club. Khosla is believed to be out of the country. Investigations have revealed that the club lacked essential licenses, including a construction license, occupancy certificate, fire department NOC, and faced a demolition notice. The police are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and hold those responsible accountable.
