In a major crackdown on interstate drug trafficking, the EAGLE Force in Hyderabad apprehended a 17-year-old juvenile at a railway station for allegedly attempting to transport 10 kg of ganja worth ₹5 lakh to Mumbai. The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement Force, in coordination with the S R Nagar police, conducted a joint operation on January 5 at the Nature Cure Hospital railway station, where the juvenile was found with the illicit substance. According to sources, the juvenile was being exploited by Mumbai-based drug syndicates, who had instructed him to transport the ganja under the guise of a legitimate job. The main accused had allegedly offered the juvenile ₹1,500 to transport a tempo to Odisha, where he was handed the ganja and instructed to deliver it to another accused in Mumbai. However, the police apprehended the juvenile while he was waiting to board the train. The juvenile has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding accused.
