Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and his Indonesian counterpart Sugiono met in New Delhi to discuss bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jakarta next month.
The two ministers co-chaired the eighth bilateral Joint Commission Meeting, which covered various areas including political ties, defence, security, trade, fintech, and tourism.
Jaishankar said that India and Indonesia's comprehensive strategic partnership has witnessed strong growth in recent years, while Sugiono expressed Indonesia's eagerness for Modi's visit, which will focus on advancing trade and security ties.
The meeting is expected to lead to several outcomes and prepare for Modi's trip to Jakarta, which will be part of a three-nation tour in July.
India and Indonesia have signalled an intention to play a greater role in shaping the Indo-Pacific region, including through joint initiatives with Australia.
