In a bid to strengthen maritime ties with Southeast Asian nations, the Indian Navy's First Training Squadron has set sail for a long-range training deployment. The squadron comprises three naval ships - INS Tir, INS Shardul, INS Sujata - and an Indian Coast Guard vessel, Sarathi. This deployment is part of the 110th Integrated Officers' Training Course, which includes six international officer trainees from friendly nations. The ships will visit key ports in Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand, engaging in a range of professional interactions, training exercises, and cooperative activities with host navies and maritime agencies. These include cross-deck visits, subject matter expert interactions, and joint maritime partnership exercises. This deployment underscores the Indian Navy's commitment to capacity building, professional training, and jointness among the services. Personnel from the Indian Army and Air Force have also embarked on the deployment, fostering cohesiveness between the services. The Indian Navy's Act East Policy and vision for a free, open, and inclusive Indian Ocean Region will be reinforced through this deployment. The engagement is designed to enhance interoperability, mutual trust, and understanding, while promoting the exchange of best practices at sea.
