Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has sought to calm the storm after Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy announced his decision to resign as a minister. Reddy expressed displeasure over the allocation of portfolios in the Karnataka cabinet, citing his desire for the Bengaluru Development portfolio. However, he was appointed minister for Major and Medium Irrigation projects.
Shivakumar has assured that there is 'nothing to worry' about and that he will 'sort out the problem.' He described Reddy as a 'great friend' and a 'senior leader' who cannot work 'against conscience.' Reddy had alleged 'humiliation' and said he cannot work against his conscience.
The issue is expected to be resolved through discussions among senior party leaders, with Karnataka home minister Priyank Kharge stating that it is 'just a matter of time.' Shivakumar has retained key departments in his cabinet, including finance and intelligence.
