A Delhi court has framed corruption charges and conspiracy charges against former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members, including his wife Rabri Devi and children, in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam. The court alleged that Yadav used his time as Union Railway Minister to operate a 'criminal enterprise,' exploiting the ministry as a personal power base to secure land and jobs for his family. The chargesheet, filed by the CBI in 2022, claimed that Yadav and his associates used public employment as leverage to acquire land in the names of family members, including sons Tejashwi and Tej Pratap Yadav, wife Rabri Devi, and daughter Misa Bharti. The court found that Yadav and his close aides operated as a 'criminal enterprise' to seize land, while discharging 52 accused persons, including Central Personnel Officers, who were not involved in the alleged land scams. The case, which began in 2022, has resulted in the framing of charges against 41 individuals, with five others having passed away during the court proceedings. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also filed a money laundering case against Yadav and his family members, alleging that they acquired illicit wealth through their corrupt activities.
