Imphal, Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh called for dialogue and peace during his maiden visit to Ukhrul district.
He met with locals and assured them of steps to resume normal classes and supply potable water in the region.
The chief minister's visit comes amid ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities that started in May 2023, resulting in at least 260 deaths and thousands of homeless people.
Singh emphasized the importance of living in harmony for future generations and directed his officials to look into the construction of a bridge at Sharkaphung village.
