President Droupadi Murmu will attend the National Human Rights Commission's (NHRC) Human Rights Day event in Delhi on December 10. The event aims to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), adopted in 1948, which remains one of the most widely referenced human rights documents globally. The NHRC is organizing a national conference, 'Ensuring Everyday Essentials: Public Services and Dignity for All', in line with this year's Human Rights Day theme. The conference will feature a keynote address by P K Mishra, principal secretary to the prime minister, and will consist of two thematic sessions focusing on the importance of accessible and equitable public services for human rights. The event is expected to attract state human rights commissions, national commissions, government officials, human rights defenders, civil society organizations, and academia. By promoting public dialogue and awareness, the NHRC aims to ensure that human rights become an integral part of everyday life in India.
