A chilling social media post has emerged claiming responsibility for the murder of kabaddi player Rana Balachauria in Mohali, with the perpetrators allegedly seeking revenge for the 2022 killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala. The Instagram reel, purportedly posted by a smaller gang linked to the Bambiha gang, details the attack as a means of avenging Moosewala's murder, claiming that Rana Balachauria was associated with rival gangs led by Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. The post also warns kabaddi players against participating in teams allegedly sponsored by Jaggu. Authorities have taken note of the post, which names several individuals and makes claims about the victim's connections to rival gangs. Police officials are actively verifying the post's claims, linking the murder to Moosewala's killing. The murder of Rana Balachauria took place on Monday evening during a local kabaddi tournament in Mohali's Sohana area. The 30-year-old player and sports event promoter was shot dead by unidentified assailants as hundreds of spectators and players gathered for the match. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of men arrived at the scene in a Mahindra Bolero vehicle, approached Rana under the pretext of taking selfies, and then opened fire. The incident has sparked widespread concern, with politicians from various parties questioning the state government's handling of the situation. The attack is the latest in a series of violent crimes in the region, including a gangster's murder in Chandigarh and a shooting outside a retired government officer's residence in Mohali's Phase 7. As authorities investigate the murder, questions remain about the growing trend of violence in the region and the motives behind these attacks.
