Police in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district have arrested six individuals and rescued 10 minor girls in a major crackdown on an interstate human trafficking network.
The gang, led by Ramkanya Bai, allegedly targeted poor families from the Kanjar community and purchased girls at a young age, selling them for prostitution in cities like Mumbai.
Investigations revealed that the gang used forged Aadhaar cards to pass off the minor girls as adults and executed written agreements with families, promising loans would be waived under certain conditions.
The arrested accused have been booked under provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and other relevant laws, and have been remanded to five days of police custody.
