Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has dismissed claims of a power struggle within the ruling Congress party, accusing the media of fueling speculation. In a press conference in Bengaluru, he stated that there was no contest for the CM's position in the state. The remarks came in response to a BJP social media post suggesting that the Congress party's leadership would change after the Sankranti festival. The speculation gained momentum after the Congress government reached the halfway mark of its five-year term in November and a power-sharing pact was signed between Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar in 2023. Both leaders have denied any change in leadership, with DK Shivakumar reiterating that they would follow the Congress Working Committee's decision. In December 2025, Shivakumar met with Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, but denied discussing any leadership issues. Siddaramaiah's comments have put an end to ongoing speculation about a possible change in the CM's post for Karnataka.
