Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has thanked opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, for defeating the delimitation bill in Parliament.

Stalin described the bill as the 'Black Law' and said it was brought in favor of the BJP under the guise of delimitation.

He also targeted AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, saying the bill's failure to pass is a crushing defeat for him even before the elections.

Stalin urged the BJP government to implement the Women's Reservation Law, which was supported by his party in 2023 without any conditions.

Palaniswami, however, stated that the state had lost a golden opportunity to increase its political power as the delimitation bill was defeated in Parliament.

Union Finance Minister Sitharaman also weighed in, saying that the opposition's actions have allegedly allowed Tamil Nadu to lose out on an opportunity for women's representation in the Parliament and assembly.
