HYDRAA, a statutory wing of the Telangana government, has protected government lands worth over ₹1 lakh crore from encroachments. The agency's biggest drive took place on Friday, where authorities prevented government land valued at ₹30,000 crore from being encroached.
HYDRAA commissioner A V Ranganath said the drive was a result of a high court order to fence 200 acres of government land between Puppalaguda and Khajaguda. The land is valued at ₹30,000 crore and is one of Hyderabad's most significant geological landscapes.
The agency has been conducting anti-encroachment drives, braving legal battles and resistance from encroachers. In the last two years, HYDRAA has successfully reclaimed over 1,045 acres of encroached lake lands and government lands, valued at approximately ₹60,000 crores.
With the latest drive, the total value of government lands protected by HYDRAA has touched nearly ₹1 lakh crore. The agency has also restored several lakes, including Mushkin Lake, Kotha Cheruvu, and Eedula Kunta lake.
HYDRAA has been entrusted with the responsibility of reclaiming government lands and restoring lakes, ponds, and tanks located within the core urban areas.
