Union minister G Kishan Reddy has asked the Telangana government to collaborate with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to meet the state's increasing power demand, which reached a record 18,139 MW last week.
The power demand is expected to rise further in the coming years, with the Union minister stating that it could reach nearly one lakh MW by 2047.
NTPC has initiated steps to implement phase-II of the 4,000-MW thermal power project at Ramagundam, which proposes three additional units of 800 MW each, adding 2,400 MW of generation capacity.
Kishan Reddy requested the chief minister to facilitate a power purchase agreement (PPA) between the Telangana government and NTPC for the 3×800 MW Phase-II project.
