A high-stakes encounter is underway in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, where security forces are battling at least three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists believed to be sponsored by Pakistan. The operation began in the evening at Kahog village in Billawar, after intelligence reports suggested the presence of 2-3 terrorists in the area. The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Kathua police is leading the joint operation with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Despite challenging terrain and darkness, the security forces are pressing on with the operation. According to eyewitnesses, one terrorist was spotted by locals in the Kamadh Nullah area earlier in the day. This could be the same individual who was seen at Dhannu Parole in the morning. The authorities have rushed reinforcements to the scene to ensure the safe clearance of the area. In a related development, the Jammu and Kashmir police have attached the properties of seven individuals from Kathua district, who are accused of involvement in anti-national activities while operating from Pakistan. The action was taken after a special court issued orders in connection with cases registered at the Malhar police station. The properties, valued at crores of rupees, include over 10 kanals of land in the Lohai Malhar area of Kathua district. The accused individuals, who are currently based in Pakistan, had been issued a proclamation, which led to the attachment of their properties after completion of all legal formalities.
