Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has seemingly endorsed senior party leader Digvijaya Singh's call for strengthening the party's organisational structure. Speaking in Delhi, Tharoor emphasized the need for discipline within the Congress. This comes after Digvijaya Singh praised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) organisational prowess, comparing it to the Congress. Digvijaya Singh sparked controversy by sharing an old photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani. Singh highlighted the organisational strength of the BJP and the RSS, saying it was the power of organisation that allowed an RSS volunteer to rise to become the country's prime minister. However, Congress leaders are divided on the issue. While Sachin Pilot stated that the party remains united, Pawan Khera rejected any suggestion that the Congress should draw lessons from the RSS, linking it to Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. The BJP seized on the controversy, with BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi attacking Rahul Gandhi, invoking former US President Barack Obama's comments about the Congress leader. Digvijaya Singh has since clarified that his social media post was misunderstood and that he remains a firm critic of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This development comes after Singh publicly called for reforms within the party on December 19, praising Rahul Gandhi's ability to lead the party towards change.
