West Bengal leader of opposition Ritabrata Banerjee expressed confidence that the support for the rebel faction of the Trinamool Congress will continue to increase.

Banerjee, who was expelled by the party for 'anti-party activities', claimed that he has the backing of a majority of TMC MLAs, but has not spoken to any MPs in the last week.

He appealed to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to take action against BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal for protesting in front of rebel TMC MLA Sandipan Saha's house.

Banerjee questioned the intent behind the protest, alleging that BJP workers had created unrest and that Tibrewal's presence was suspicious.

The expelled TMC leader has emerged as the central figure in the ongoing infighting in Trinamool, with 58 of the 80 MLAs supporting him.
