The YSR Congress party, the main opposition in Andhra Pradesh, has launched a week-long campaign across the state to highlight the alleged failure of the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government in the last two years in fulfilling promises made to the people before the elections.

YSRCP spokesperson Karthik Yellapragada said the party leaders and cadre took up the campaign under the banner of “Two years of backstabbing” in different parts of the state.

Protests were organised in all mandal headquarters across the state, with party leaders and cadre taking out demonstrations by holding copies of the TDP-led coalition’s election manifesto, the super six promises and the guarantee bonds bearing the photographs and signatures of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan.

These documents were symbolically burnt at major junctions to highlight what the party termed as the coalition government’s betrayal of public trust.

YSRCP said the campaign was aimed at exposing the widening gap between the coalition’s promises and its actual performance in government.

Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu described June 4, 2024, as a historic day that would remain etched in the state’s history, marking two years since the people delivered what he called an unprecedented mandate for rebuilding Andhra Pradesh.
