NASCAR driver Daniel Dye has been suspended by Kaulig Racing after making homophobic jokes on a live stream. Dye, 22, was opening NASCAR cards on the online marketplace Whatnot when he mocked IndyCar driver David Malukas's enthusiastic reply about racing Indy and loving Roger Penske. He used a mock 'gay voice' to make the jokes, which quickly went viral and earned him condemnation.

The video showed Dye saying 'Oh my gosh, yes, we race Indianapolis, love Indianapolis, and Roger Penske, I love Roger. Love you Roger.' Several people reacted to the video, with one person writing 'David Malukas got more talent on his pinky than Daniel Dye ever will have in his life.' Another person angrily remarked 'Hey, Daniel Dye, what is this and NASCAR better have some words for you. David Malukas and Roger Penke, too.'

Dye has since apologized for his comments, stating that he chose his words poorly and understands why it upset people. He has committed to learning from the incident and being more aware and respectful moving forward.
