Tension gripped Pakistan's Balochistan province after suspected insurgents detonated bombs targeting two trains, including the frequently attacked Jaffar Express. The explosions, which occurred on Friday, damaged railway tracks in Mushkaf and Dasht, disrupting services and halting rail traffic. The Jaffar Express and Bolan Mail passenger trains were the intended targets, according to Quetta Senior Superintendent of Police Shahid Nawaz. As a result, railway officials have suspended normal services and are awaiting security clearance to resume operations. A special service of the Jaffar Express was allowed to depart for Peshawar on Saturday, but regular services remain on hold. This is not the first time the Jaffar Express has been attacked; in fact, it has been targeted multiple times this year, including a hijacking incident on March 11 that resulted in the deaths of over 20 people. To ensure passenger safety, security measures have been heightened, and officials will now require security approval before confirming passenger train schedules from Quetta to other provinces. The recent attacks are a grim reminder of the ongoing security concerns in the region.
