A Hindu man, 27-year-old Dipu Chandra Das, was brutally lynched by a mob in Bangladesh's Mymensingh district, leaving his family reeling in grief. Speaking to NDTV, his father, Ravilal Das, described the horrific scene where his son's body was tied to a tree and set on fire. The incident occurred amidst widespread unrest in Bangladesh following the death of youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi. Protests against India took a violent turn, with several offices being attacked, including those of major newspapers. According to Ravilal, the family first learned about the incident on Facebook, with more people gradually sharing the news. He expressed hopelessness, stating that the Bangladesh government had not provided any assurance or support. In response to the incident, the government condemned the killing and arrested seven suspects, including Md. Limon Sarkar, Md. Tarek Hossain, and Md. Manik Mia. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted operations at various locations and arrested the suspects. The government issued a statement expressing deep condemnation over the lynching, vowing that those involved would not be spared. The violence in Bangladesh has raised concerns about the security environment in the neighboring country and the threat to the Indian mission in Dhaka. The Indian government has registered a protest over the deteriorating situation, with the external affairs ministry summoning Bangladesh high commissioner Riaz Hamidullah earlier this week.
