Bangladesh's interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, is facing a 24-hour ultimatum to crack down on Osman Hadi's murder case, after violent protests swept the country following the party founder's assassination. Inqilab Moncho's member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber issued the warning at an emergency press conference, citing the government's failure to make any visible progress in the case despite the deadline.
Jaber accused the home adviser and concerned authorities of trivializing the incident by not attending a ministry briefing and neglecting their duties. The party has demanded the formation of a Speedy Trial Tribunal and international assistance, such as from the FBI or Scotland Yard, to ensure transparency in the investigation.
The call for action comes as another student leader, Motaleb Shikder, was shot in the head in Khulna, days after Osman Hadi's death. Hadi's killing had sparked violent protests, with mobs vandalizing and torching media outlets and offices. The situation remains tense ahead of the scheduled February 2026 elections, with the government facing mounting pressure to address the crisis.
