Wendy Davis — who used the stage name Wenne Alton Davis — died after being struck by a Cadillac driver while crossing a street in New York City.
A 60-year-old actress, known for her roles in Amazon Prime's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and the 2011 drama Shame, died after being struck by a black 2023 Cadillac XT6 while crossing a Midtown street in New York City on Monday, December 8. Wendy Davis, who used the stage name Wenne Alton Davis, was crossing Broadway near the intersection of West 53rd Street when she was hit by the motorist, suffering severe head and body trauma.
Davis was taken to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver, a 61-year-old man, stayed at the scene and has not been charged in connection with the incident. Davis, a resident of Forest Hills, Queens, was remembered fondly by her neighbor, Edward Reynoso, who described her as 'driven, compassionate, and giving.' Reynoso, who had become close with Davis over the past five years, shared a heart-wrenching moment with her before her passing, where she told him 'I love you, I appreciate you.'
Friends and neighbors are still reeling from the sudden loss, with Reynoso expressing his shock and sadness. 'I will miss her smile, laugh, and joie de vivre,' he said. The incident occurred just four blocks away from the iconic Radio City Music Hall and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. An investigation is ongoing, but the driver has not been charged at this time.
