Bondi Beach Attack: Online Clues Suggest Rare Beretta Rifle Used in Deadly Shooting
Speculation surrounds the firearm used by Bondi Beach attackers, with many suggesting it was a Beretta BRX1 straight-pull bolt-action rifle.  | World News
Online speculation has centered on the firearm used by one of the Bondi Beach attackers, with some users claiming it's an unusual straight-pull bolt-action rifle, possibly a Beretta BRX1.
Several social media users analyzed footage and images of the shooters, pointing to distinctive features of the suspected rifle. One user noted a red marking on the receiver as a key identifier, while another described the Beretta BRX1 as a modern hunting rifle designed for rapid follow-up shots.
However, firearms expert Jonathan Ferguson told Sky News that the younger attacker was firing a Beretta BRX-1, while the older attacker used a Stoeger M3000 semi-automatic shotgun. Despite these claims, authorities have not publicly confirmed the specific make or model of the rifle.
The shooting occurred on Sunday evening at Sydney's Bondi Beach, where a Hanukkah celebration was taking place. The attack, which has been declared an act of terrorism, killed 15 people, including a child, and injured at least 42 others.
Police have detained one attacker and are holding his 24-year-old son in critical condition under guard. Authorities believe the pair acted alone, using long firearms to fire into crowds of people. The incident has sparked concerns about online speculation and misinformation, with one Sydney man receiving death threats after being wrongly identified as the gunman online.
