Lawmaker Shuv Majumdar thanked Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre for “his unwavering moral clarity and strength in standing with all Canadian Bengalis” | World News
A Canadian MP has called for an immediate end to the brutal attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, labeling them as 'pogroms'. Conservative Party MP Shuv Majumdar urged the interim government to take responsibility for the violence targeting Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and other minorities. He expressed gratitude towards Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre for his unwavering support for the Canadian Bengali community.
The attacks, Majumdar said, have resulted in thousands of incidents, including home invasions, business attacks, temple vandalism, murders, and forced displacements. The violence has persisted since the August 2024 political upheaval, with hundreds of cases reported in 2025. Majumdar praised brave Muslims who have come forward to protect their minority neighbors, but expressed concern that violent mobs are still prevailing.
In a separate development, the Bangladeshi Canadian Hindus community group condemned the brutal lynching of a young Hindu man, Dipu Chandra Das. The group, in a letter to the Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa, urged the government to conduct transparent investigations, ensure swift justice for perpetrators, and take decisive measures to protect vulnerable minority communities. According to credible data, there have been over 3,000 documented incidents of attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh, resulting in over 200 killings and hundreds of reported rapes since October 2025.
