{ "title": "Jen Shah's Early Release from Prison: 'Real Housewives' Star Moves to Community Confinement", "article": "Jennifer Shah, a former star on "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City," has been transferred to a community confinement program after serving less than half of her sentence for her role in a massive telemarketing scam that deceived thousands of people. Shah, 52, was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison in 2023 for her involvement in a nationwide fraud that targeted vulnerable individuals, including older and electronically unsophisticated people. The scam promoted fake services that promised substantial online income. Shah pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge in July 2022 and apologized to the victims, promising to pay $6.5 million in restitution and forfeiture upon her release. According to Bureau of Prisons spokesperson Emery Nelson, Shah was transferred from the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, to a program overseen by the Phoenix Residential Residential Reentry Management Office. Nelson cited privacy, safety, and security reasons for not disclosing the conditions of her confinement or release plans. Shah's projected release date is August 30, 2026. The community confinement program may involve home confinement or a halfway house. During her sentencing, Shah acknowledged her culpability, saying, "I alone am responsible for my terrible decisions. It was all my fault and all my wrongdoing." She also vowed to use the proceeds from her "Justice for Jen" merchandise to benefit the victims."
