A winter storm is bringing snowy weather to central North Carolina, prompting multiple school districts to announce delays and closures on Friday. The Wake County Public Schools System was the first to announce a two-hour delay, but it's not alone. At least eight school districts have announced a two-hour delay, while others have opted for remote learning or closure. Other districts, such as Davidson County Schools, Guilford County Schools, Rockingham County Schools, Stokes County Schools, Surry County Schools, Yadkin County Schools, and Durham County Schools, will have remote learning due to the weather conditions. The National Weather Service has forecasted that western North Carolina and the central-northern Piedmont will see snowfall on Friday. The areas around Asheville and communities north of I-40 in Western NC may experience snow or a mix of snow and sleet.. Meanwhile, counties north and northwest of the Piedmont Triangle area in central NC are expected to see a mix of snow, sleet, or freezing rain. Residents are advised to check with their local school districts for the latest updates on school status and to plan accordingly for the winter weather conditions.
