NY Eve Bomb Plot Foiled: 4 Arrested in California, Tied to Far-Left Group
Four members of the Turtle Island Liberation Front were charged with a domestic terrorism plot to bomb US companies on New Year’s Eve.
Federal prosecutors have charged four alleged members of the Turtle Island Liberation Front in connection with a plot to bomb US companies on New Year's Eve. The suspects, arrested in the Mojave Desert, are accused of domestic terrorism.
According to court filings, the defendants, Audrey Illeene Carroll, Zachary Aaron Page, Dante Gaffield, and Tina Lai, were scheduled to make their initial court appearances in US District Court in Los Angeles on December 16. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
Authorities say Carroll, 30, played a central role in the plot, outlining a detailed plan for coordinated bombings at five or more business locations across Southern California. Page, 32, is accused of participating in the conspiracy and bringing bomb-making components to the desert campsite. Gaffield, 24, and Lai, 41, are also charged with conspiracy and possession of an unregistered destructive device.
Prosecutors describe the Turtle Island Liberation Front as a far-left, anti-capitalist, and anti-government group. The arrests followed surveillance at a desert campsite where bomb-making materials were found, including PVC pipes, potassium nitrate, charcoal, sulfur powder, and fuse components.
The case highlights the ongoing threat of domestic terrorism in the US, with authorities vowing to take a zero-tolerance stance against such activities. The investigation is ongoing, and officials believe all individuals directly involved in the alleged plot have been arrested.
