Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the five-hour talks with US envoys as 'difficult work' in their bid to end the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin's leader made the comments ahead of his visit to India, where he will meet with Indian officials. The talks, which took place in the Kremlin, were led by US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. According to Putin, the negotiations were 'necessary' and 'useful,' but some proposals were deemed unacceptable by Moscow. The US peace effort has gained momentum recently, but reconciling Russia's and Ukraine's 'red lines' remains a significant challenge. Despite this, US President Donald Trump remains optimistic about the talks, saying that Witkoff and Kushner left the Kremlin with the impression that Putin wants to find a deal. The US and Russia will continue to engage in high-stakes talks, with the next meeting set to take place in Miami between US envoys and Ukraine's lead negotiator, Rustem Umerov.
